Lima, Peru — We have just returned from ExpoMina Perú. It was a busy show, and honestly, we came back with more than we expected. Not just leads, not just handshakes, but a much clearer picture of what mining companies in South America are dealing with and what they need from a wear parts supplier.

At our booth, we displayed rubber screen panels, mill liners, flotation rotors and stators, belt cleaners, and magnetic liners. These products started a lot of conversations. Some visitors knew exactly what they wanted. Others came with curiosity and wanted to learn more about our solutions. That is what made the show valuable for us.

ExpoMina Perú brought in people from Peru, Chile, Bolivia and Brazil. We spoke with procurement managers, maintenance engineers, plant supervisors, technical consultants, and distributors. Some came alone. Some came in small groups. Many had specific questions about wear life, installation, and delivery.

A Show Full of Real Conversations

One maintenance engineer from southern Peru spent a long time with a rubber screen panel sample. He asked about hole size, rubber compound, and how the panel performs with wet, sticky ore. He told us his plant changes panels too often. That one conversation told us more than any market report could.

A group from Chile asked about mill liners and magnetic liners. They wanted to know about the advantages compared with the traditional steel mill liners. They were not just comparing prices. They were comparing downtime. That stuck with us.

Flotation rotors and stators also drew attention. A technical manager from Bolivia asked how our polyurethane formulation holds up in abrasive slurry. We talked about wear life and replacement schedules. He wanted details, not sales talk.

Belt cleaners came up again and again. A procurement person from Colombia said carryback was a constant headache at his operation. He wanted a belt cleaner that works, not one that needs constant adjustment. We showed him our dual-hardness designs and talked about blade material and tensioning.

What They Need

After many conversations, some clear themes came through.

First, durability under tough conditions is still the top concern. Mines in Peru and Chile often work at high altitude, with abrasive ore and heavy-duty cycles. A screen panel that fails early or a mill liner that wears too fast means lost production. They want products that last longer and fail less.

Second, customization is not optional. We heard about different ore sizes, moisture levels, throughput targets, and equipment configurations. Off-the-shelf products often do not fit. Being able to tailor rubber screen panels and polyurethane parts to exact specifications is a basic expectation here, not a bonus.

Third, cost is judged over the full lifecycle. Price matters, of course. But the more experienced buyers we met were focused on total cost of ownership. They wanted to know about wear rates, expected service life, and the long-term economics of our products compared to alternatives. That fits with how we work: deliver value through quality, not just compete on price.

We also heard about problems we had not thought about enough. A mine in northern Chile has fine, dry ore that creates dust. They need screen panels that resist abrasion but also handle blinding. A mine in Peru has wet, sticky ore. They need different openings and different rubber. A mine in Bolivia has high altitude and low temperatures. They need polyurethane that stays flexible. These are not the same problem. One product cannot solve all of them. That is why customization matters.

More Than Products

At the booth, we had samples. People picked them up, turned them over, pressed them, and asked about hardness, tensile strength, and temperature range. Some asked for test reports. Some asked for references. Some asked if we could ship a trial order. We wrote down every request.

We also learned that Spanish matters. Not just brochures. Technical support in Spanish. WhatsApp groups. Fast answers. In this region, business is personal. People want to know who they are dealing with. They want to know you will still be there next year.

We met distributors, too. Some are looking for new product lines. Others want a manufacturer who can support them technically. These conversations are still going on.

One thing we appreciated was the honesty. Visitors told us what they liked and what they did not like. They told us where our competitors are strong and where they are weak. They told us what they wish existed. That kind of feedback is hard to get from a catalog or a website.

What We Are Doing Now

We came home tired but encouraged. The show was not just about writing orders. It was about understanding. We understand better now why a mine in the Andes chooses one supplier over another. It is rarely just price. It is trust, response, and proof that the product works.

Our engineering team is already looking at design changes. Our sales team is following up with contacts. Our service team is preparing Spanish materials. We cannot promise everything overnight, but we can move in that direction.

We are also preparing clearer Spanish technical data sheets for screen panels, mill liners, flotation rotors and stators, belt cleaners, and magnetic liners. Some mines need certificates, test reports, and traceability. We have that. But we need to present it in Spanish and in the format they expect. That is a fixable problem.

On the last day, we had a long conversation with a group from Colombia. They operate several plants. They asked about mill liners, flotation rotors and stators, and belt cleaners. They wanted a single supplier for wear parts. We told them what we can do and what we cannot. They appreciated the honesty. That is how relationships start.

Looking Ahead

We want to thank everyone who visited our booth and shared their thoughts. We want to thank the organizers and our team. ExpoMina Perú reminded us that mining is a tough business. The people who work in it are practical. They do not want fancy presentations. They want answers. We tried to give them answers. And we learned a lot in return.

Our journey in South America is just getting started. We will be back. And we will keep listening.
