Rubber Screening Solution for Humid Conditions: 40 Shore A Panels with Long Wear Life

Application Scenario
In 2022, an aggregate processing customer in southern China faced persistent production issues due to the region’s high rainfall and humidity. Their raw materials were constantly wet, causing severe screen clogging during the screening process. This directly impacted production continuity and product quality.

Challenge
The customer had previously tried two common screen solutions without success:

Stainless steel screens: Although strong and wear resistant, wet materials easily adhered to the metal surface, leading to frequent hole plugging and difficult cleaning.

Polyurethane screens: Slightly more elastic than metal, but still failed to resolve clogging under high humidity and fine particle conditions.

Frequent plugging forced repeated machine shutdowns, significantly reducing screening efficiency, increasing labor costs for cleaning, and accelerating equipment wear. The customer urgently needed a solution that could deliver long term, clog free operation.

Solutions
On April 8, 2022, our company (Strudex) provided the customer with four rows of rubber screen panels for on site trials. The panels featured:

High elasticity rubber compound (40 Shore A hardness) for excellent deformation and recovery.

Self cleaning mechanism: The high elasticity prevents wet particles from embedding or sticking to the screen apertures – they simply fall off.

Wear resistant formulation to maintain long service life under continuous abrasion from aggregates.

Results & Benefits

1. Almost zero plugging rate – After the machine stopped, the customer inspected our rubber screen panels and found that the hole plugging rate was extremely low, close to zero. Wet materials hardly stayed on the panel surface.

2. Three months of uninterrupted operation – Three months later, we revisited the customer and examined the rubber panels inside the machine. On site photos showed no obvious wear on the screening area. The customer confirmed that no hole plugging had occurred during the entire three month period, dramatically reducing unplanned downtime.

3. Enhanced productivity – With virtually no clogging, the screening line operated smoothly, improving overall efficiency and lowering maintenance costs.

Before Strudex solution: The aggregate screen was visibly blocked with wet materials, showing typical plugging challenges.

After Strudex solution: The same equipment ran smoothly, with a clear, unobstructed screen panel in action.

Conclusion
